Composers of any age or nationality are invited to apply for the 2006 Music From China International Composition Prize. The purpose of the Prize is to promote and encourage the composition of new Chinese instrumental music. Eligible works may be for chamber ensembles of two or more performers, lasting from 6 to 15 minutes. Instrumentation must be based on the following: dizi (xiao, xun), pipa, erhu (gaohu, banhu, zhonghu), daruan (zhongruan), yangqin, percussion. Prizes of $500 (First), $300 (Second) and $200 (Third) will be awarded to the winning work(s), which will be performed in "Premiere Works XVI" at Merkin Concert Hall, NYC on November 11, 2006. Winner(s) will be announced in September. The judges reserve the right to divide the award money or decline to make an award if no composition is deemed prize-worthy. Submit entry form and 3 copies of the score, 2 without the name of the composer, and CD recording of entry, if available. Scores will not be returned.
