I want to bring attention to a couple of programs and wikis.

Here's a 'Liki'
http://www.criticalartware.net/

VooDoo Notepad
http://flyingmeat.com/

As I was discussion in a previous thread, I'm still in the 'interrogating software' stage. Looking for a convenient, semi-automated way of ontologizing. Criticalware is a 'radical' wiki. Seems to spawn discourse clusters that have 'arcs' or vectors that head out from the central discourse space. This seems to me a very free way to generate ontology 'sources' to mine. It tracks discourse as it refines discourse by traversing (linking)(wormholing) paths, strengthening paths and nodes that get well traveled. It stores its database in xml format.

The point is that one obtains a glossary (wikiwords) from actual discourse.

Then I downloaded a mac application called voodoo notes, which is just a notepad that works like a wiki - but there is no edit page or save button - its instant wiki - like live typing in Squeak (smalltalk). Any text can be executed as script. It exports xml. It also uploads (syncs) to a wiki (if the wiki supports the vpwiki api). that makes voodoo notepad an offline client for a wiki. When you finish your writing you sync the online wiki. I just run the wiki server locally (voodoo isn't supported by other wikis yet).

So heres the application. I write the words 'one, two three, four, five.' I wiki them one at a time with command-L. I now have a glossary. when I write the following, I get:

"I'm writing one its already linked as is two three four and five."

Or I write the above and derive the glossary.

So I now have my glossary. How to turn it into an ontology? I have an xml file. The voodoo or wiki pages are <nodes> and the text is <content>.

A possible method now would be to import the xml into protege. Ok. that seems not too successful. It imports, but it seems to have lost my nodes and their content. I have more work to do on that.

After the xml is imported into protege. maybe the term's properties could be defined/constrained (in an OWL context) and Racer could automatically categorize (class/subclass) the list.

Does anyone follow this. Could anyone help with importing the xml into Protege while retaining my list.

Thanks,
Ken
