Subject: frischzelle/early winds german chinese artist exchange
We planned to do an exchange of chinese and german media artist
and musicians who will develop intermedial cooperation projects and
performances during 2 weeks in china and 2 weeks in germany with
performances in both countries. The academy of media arts in cologne,
the music academy in cologne, the city of cologne and the government of
NordrheinWestfalen country are the main cooperation partners.
We will also produce a printed catalogue which will be on one side a
documentation of the project and on the other side a collection of articles
and essays about the topic of computer music, traditional chinese and
germany music, new music and improvisation in a contemporary
context and the term of "intermedial performance" as a form of bringing all these
types of music together adding mediarts as an expansion of the latter.
It would be also great to have you as an author for an article in the catalogue
I suppose, you will have some ideas about that topic :-) the production
of the latter will start in december 07.
At the moment we are trying to fix a list of chinese artists who will take
part in the project which actually mostly consists of suggestions.
We thought of having a balance between improvising video artist,
electronic musicians and classical acoustic instrument players who
are virtuouso improvisers.
Alltogether there should be about 10 people who will play in germany
and china (with more "special local guests" in both germany and china).
For the german part of the project we have fixed a list of artists and
places, which will be 13th, 14th of september 2007 at altstadt herbst festival
duesseldorf, 15th, 16th, 17th of september 2007 during MusikNacht at
Stadtgarten Cologne and 21th of september 2007 at mex artist house dortmund.
For the chinese side we have an invitation to GetItLouder Shanghai
and Beijing (5th and 16th of August 2007).
Goethe institut has also declared insterest and wants to cooperate
with the project. So we will be in Beijing from the 6th to the 16th of
August 2007 and during that time no other dates are fixed.
so please let us know if you have any ideas or suggestions of either musicians
or performing places in Beijing for the upper mentioned dates.
